WHAT IS ECHO?
ECHO is a dynamic and immersive Catholic retreat experience of St. John Paul II's landmark teaching called the Theology of the Body. Geared toward different audiences (young adults, teens, and married couples), ECHO is not just an intellectual exercise, but a journey into the heart where we discover the "distant echo" of God's plan for life and love from the very beginning. Focused on identity, prayer, vocation, relationships, and the Catholic Church's teachings on human sexuality, participants are invited into a new level of freedom to be the gift that God has called them to be. THEOLOGY OF THE BODY & ST JOHN PAUL II Sensing the urgent need for a deeper formation in what it means to be human, St. John Paul II gave a series of teachings between 1979-1984 which has come to be known as the "Theology of the Body." This teaching has its roots in scripture, taking us on a deep journey into what humanity experienced before original sin, the fallout from sin, and the reality of redemption...all leading us to our ultimate destiny of communion with God. This catechesis, which is simply an articulation of the Gospel message through the lens of human experience, has been a source of freedom for countless men and women. This is what we seek to unpack and experience at ECHO. |
